Welcome to Beyond Binders – A Father-Daughter Creative Journey

The Start of an Exciting Journey

Hi, I’m Cody, and welcome to Beyond Binders! This blog is inspired by my eldest daughter and my desire to help her explore creativity, hobbies, and meaningful bonding experiences through trading card collecting and content creation.

At first, my goal was simply to create something my daughter could look back on—a space where she could see my thoughts and perspectives at this stage in life. But the more I reflected on it, the more I realized that other parents, collectors, and aspiring content creators might relate to our journey or even gain something from it.

This blog is a collection of my thoughts, ideas, and realizations as a father. Together, my daughter and I are navigating the world of trading cards, video content creation, and the responsibilities that come with these hobbies. Through this blog, I’ll be documenting our experiences, insights, and the valuable lessons we both learn along the way.

If you’d like to know more about me personally, feel free to read more [here].

Why Trading Card Collecting?

Although I haven’t had a trading card collection since elementary school, I’ve always been fascinated by card collecting and the community it creates. Trading cards tell stories, spark excitement, and connect collectors across generations.

So when my daughter expressed interest in starting her own card collection, I knew it was the perfect opportunity for us to bond. From the thrill of opening booster packs to carefully organizing cards in a binder, trading card collecting I had the idea that this could become something truly special for us.

More than that, it teaches valuable life skills—patience, organization, budgeting, and an appreciation for rarity and detail.

Follow us as we start from scratch, knowing virtually nothing about the trading card hobby, video production, blogging, or editing. Grow with us as we learn, experiment, and improve along the way!

For those who aren’t as interested in the personal journey and parenting insights, I totally understand! I’ll always provide direct links to card collecting tips, product recommendations, and content creation guides so you can find exactly what you need.

Expanding Beyond Card Collecting – Our YouTube Journey

Honestly, creating a YouTube channel was my daughter’s idea first. Unlike when I was a kid, her generation has grown up watching content creators on YouTube, and that sparked her desire to start her own channel.

As a father, I had a lot of concerns—online safety, privacy risks, and the challenges of content creation. After thinking long and hard, I decided that instead of outright saying no, I’d help her navigate the world of YouTube safely and responsibly.

With that in mind, everything on the Beyond Binders YouTube channel will be her creative ideas and projects. I’m just here to help behind the scenes—filming, editing, and ensuring everything is done in a safe, age-appropriate way. My goal isn’t to take credit for what she’s creating, but to support and guide her.
